Podcast #46: Bail & Bond in Criminal Cases

All citizen's have a Constitutional right to "reasonable bail."  The primary consideration is the likelihood that the defendant will attend all future court appearances.  At a criminal defendant's first appearance in court on a felony, gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor offense, the judge will determine if bail (for example, $2,000) will be required and what, if any, conditions of release will be ordered, such as no use of alcohol or drugs, or no contact with the victim.  Washington County District Court Judge Gregory Galler discusses these issues under Minnesota law in a podcast about 4 minutes in duration.
